Honoring the Journey of the Soul
A Crossing Over ceremony is a sacred farewell that honors the cyclical nature of life, death, and rebirth. Whether you are seeking a traditional Pagan "Last Rite," a Gothic-inspired memorial, or a gentle secular celebration of life, I am here to facilitate a respectful and meaningful transition. With over 25 years of experience, I provide a compassionate presence to help you honor your loved one’s unique spirit and legacy.
A Ritual of Remembrance
While every memorial is deeply personal, a Crossing Over ceremony often includes:
Calling the Ancestors: Invoking the spirits of those who have passed before to guide and welcome the traveler home.
The Fourfold Blessing: Using the elements to purify the space and bless the memory of the departed—Earth for the body’s return, Water for the tears of the living, Air for the breath of memory, and Fire for the transformation of the soul.
The Story of Life: A personalized eulogy or sharing of sagas that celebrates the deceased's impact on their kin and community.
The Final Release: A symbolic act of letting go, such as the lighting of a pyre, the scattering of ashes, or the offering of libations to the earth.
The Sacred Space
Death is a sacred transition that deserves a container of deep reverence. As a practicing Pagan, I am comfortable working in the "shadow" spaces of life. Whether the ceremony takes place at a graveside, a forest grove, or a family home, I facilitate a space where grief and celebration can exist side-by-side. I handle the flow of the ritual so that the family can focus entirely on their journey of saying goodbye.
Honoring Ancient Traditions
I draw inspiration from the rich tapestry of our ancestors to help you choose elements that resonate with your loved one’s path:
Norse & Heathen Rites: Incorporating a "Blot" (offering), the recitation of sagas, or symbolic ship imagery to honor the journey to the halls of the ancestors.
Celtic & Druidic Traditions: Emphasizing the return to the Earth Mother, the use of biodegradable materials, and the "Feast of the Dead."
Gothic & Unconventional: Creating a space that embraces the macabre with beauty and dignity, focusing on the eternal nature of the soul.
The Result: A Respectful Farewell
Every soul deserves a transition that reflects the life they lived. I work closely with the bereaved to ensure that individual beliefs, pronouns, and lifestyle choices are honored with the utmost respect. Together, we will create a ceremony that provides comfort to the living while lightng the way for the one who has crossed over.
